India, Dec. 14 -- Sukhna Lake should be developed and maintained by an independent management authority which should be funded by the Chandigarh administration. It should be developed like Chowpatty in Mumbai with a bazaar, a place where residents and visitors can come for entertainment and to enjoy nature, the chirping of birds, boating, and for morning and evening walks. Money can also be generated for the lake through pisciculture. The catchment areas should be cleared of encroachments and permanent structures. To ensure appropriate water level throughout the year, smaller lakes should be created in the catchment areas as reservoirs. The management authority headed by the Chandigarh municipal corporation commissioner should comprise of nature lovers, NGOs, agro engineers etc. A special children's section should also be built for....
