Fog likely to make a comeback from today
Chandigarh, Dec. 24 -- Visibility in Chandigarh improved to around 3,000 metres for most of Tuesday, but fog is likely to return from Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
A fresh Western Disturbance is expected to affect the region from Wednesday, which is unlikely to bring any rain but will disrupt wind patterns and increase moisture levels, leading to foggy conditions, officials said.
IMD officials said moderate fog is likely on Wednesday, with visibility expected to drop below 500 metres. Dense fog is expected from Thursday when visibility could fall below 200 metres.
The city had experienced its first dense fog spell of the season last week, starting Wednesday. Visibility had then dropped below 200 metres, leading to the grounding of several flights and causing difficulties for commuters, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature dipped slightly from 24.5degC on Monday to 23.5degC on Tuesday, still 3.4 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature rose from 8.3degC to 9.6degC, which is 2.6 degrees above normal....
