India, April 19 -- After a tumultuous term at the helm, Raj Kumar's ouster in 2023 was the first of its kind in Panjab University's history since it was established in 1882. Technically, he resigned almost a year and-a-half before the end of his second term amid allegations of corruption, but it is widely believed that he was given the option to quit or face the consequence of the charges against him. During both his terms, the V-C had been at loggerheads with the Panjab University Teachers' Association (PUTA) besides senate and syndicate members. His appointment in July 2018 itself became a controversy, as it was alleged that his association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) helped him more than merit. Though a probe into graft charges was ordered after he stepped down, there has been no outcome or action against him....
