Film on architect Shivdatt Sharma's legacy unveiled; screening tomorrow
Chandigarh, Nov. 8 -- A 50-minute documentary on the life and works of eminent architect of Chandigarh Shivdatt Sharma was launched at Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27, on Friday.
The film made over a period of 14 years provides insight into Shivdatt's work, with a collection of interviews of India's prominent architects. Produced by Shivani Sharma and directed by Atul Sharma, the documentary will be screened at the auditorium of Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10, at 11.30 am on Sunday.
The documentary has snippets from his 65-year-long career and life, along with his Chandigarh projects and other tenures, including as chief architect in ISRO, Bangalore. At the age of 94, Sharma is still practising architecture. Torn through the Partition days, virtually with no resources, Sharma enrolled himself in the team of architects in the Capitol project of Chandigarh. By the dint of sheer hard work, he rose to assist Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in various projects, especially the museum and art gallery.HTC...
