Ferozepur, June 14 -- A long-awaited demand of residents of Ferozepur has been fulfilled with the launch of a direct train service to Nanded in Maharashtra, connecting the region with the revered Hazur Sahib Gurdwara. The new Ferozepur-Nanded Express (Train No 14622) was flagged off on Saturday by Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, BJP national executive member. Sodhi called the train service a "gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Sikh community" and emphasised the PM's unwavering commitment to Punjab's development. He also highlighted that the new train would cater to not just pilgrims heading to Hazur Sahib, but also those traveling to Shirdi Sai Baba and Shani Shingnapur. The Ferozepur-Nanded Express will operate every Friday, departing from Ferozepur at 1.25pm and reaching Nanded Hazur Sahib on Sunday at 3.30am. The train is expected to benefit numerous devotees, particularly from the Sikh community, by providing direct access to one of the holiest shrines in India. Rana Sodhi shared that he had personally raised the request for the service with Union railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who responded positively by approving the new train route. Sodhi reaffirmed that the border district of Ferozepur is receiving focused attention from the Modi government, with further developmental initiatives in the pipeline. One of the first passengers on the newly launched train, Satbir Singh Barar from Nurpur Sethan, said, "This is a truly special gift for the Sikh community. As soon as I heard about the train, I made plans with my wife to visit Hazur Sahib."...
