Srinagar, June 22 -- National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said that his party would move the Supreme Court if there is an inordinate delay in the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The former chief minister said the central government had promised to restore statehood once an elected government comes into power in J&K and it hasn't been granted despite eight months of the government. "Once statehood comes all the powers of the elected government will be restored. I am hopeful for the restoration," Abdullah told reporters. Abdullah, however, warned that in case statehood isn't restored then the stand of the NC is clear that they will go to the Supreme Court. "If the statehood is delayed then we will have no option but to move to the Supreme Court," he said. "I am hopeful that when statehood is restored, we will get all the powers," he added. After coming to power in J&K with a comfortable majority, the restoration of statehood has been the main demand of the party and almost all the senior leaders have been raising the issue about statehood.
