Jalandhar, Aug. 6 -- The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) (non-political) on Tuesday said it had decided to hold a "kisan maha rally" against state government's land pooling scheme in Jalandhar's Kukkad village on August 20. Besides, motorcycle rallies will be organised across the state on August 11. SKM senior leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, who was in Jalandhar, said, "We are not going relent till the government scraps this anti-farmer policy with immediate effect." He added that not only the agricultural land, even residential areas and grain markets in several districts come under the purview of this policy. Pandher said they have also invited other outfits of the SKM to join the stir but yet to receive any response. Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday called for an emergency meeting jointly with the members of core committee, working committee, district presidents and halqa in-charges on August 7, to take further action against the AAP government's landpooling policy. "The current political situation and other burning issues concerning Punjab will also be discussed," said a party spokesperson. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Tuesday also met Punjab's farmers and submitted their memorandum to the governor, demanding immediate scrapping of the land pooling scheme....
