Chandigarh, July 11 -- After showers on Wednesday, overnight rains continued on Thursday. The Airport observatory of the India Meteorological Department recorded 33.2 mm rain till Thursday evening while the one at Sector 39 recorded 16.5 mm rain. As per IMD officials, chances of rain will continue on Friday, but intensity is likely to be lower. The rains were because of the monsoon axis shifting northwards. As per IMD officials, the monsoon system will lose its intensity over the weekend, however it is likely to strengthen again over the next week.
