Chandigarh, July 19 -- Dry weather is expected over the weekend while rain is likely to begin again from Monday as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). 1.6 mm rain was recorded at the IMD observatory in Sector 39 in the early hours of the day while 0.8 mm rain was recorded at the airport station. The IMD also highlighted that the monsoon axis is likely to shift southwards over the weekend but it will again come back Northwards around Monday onwards. Heavy rain is likely on Monday and Tuesday. Because of the light rain, the maximum temperature fell from 33.8degC on Thursday to 31.7degC on Friday, 1.6 degrees below normal. Minimum temperature went up from 26.4degC on Thursday to 27.4degC on Friday, one degree above normal.
