Expect clear, sunny conditions this Diwali
Chandigarh, Oct. 18 -- Residents can expect clear skies and sunny weather through the weekend and on Diwali, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city is unlikely to witness any rain as no Western Disturbances (WD) are expected to affect the region in the coming days.
This comes after light showers had put a damper on Dussehra celebrations in the first week of October.
IMD officials said the monsoon system, which withdrew last month, has had no influence over the region since the record rainfall earlier in October.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature remained unchanged between Thursday and Friday at 33.1degC, a degree above normal. The minimum dropped from 18.9degC on Thursday to 17.9degC on Friday, at normal. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature will remain between 32degC and 34degC while the minimum will remain between 18degC and 19degC.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) continued to remain in the moderate bracket. As per the daily bulletin released by the Central Pollution Control Board, theAQI was at 123 (moderate) on Friday....
