Ex-servicemen to boycott I-Day celebrations
Mohali, Aug. 14 -- Ex-servicemen in Punjab have announced boycott of state government during Independence Day functions on August 15, protesting alleged brutality and harassment of serving soldiers, sailors, airmen, and veterans by the Punjab police.
The Ex-Servicemen Association cited the March 25 incident in Patiala, where serving Army officer Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath and his son were allegedly assaulted by police. The association alleged that not only did the Patiala police attempt to hush up or dilute the case, but the Punjab police hierarchy also failed to ensure justice. htc...
