India, May 25 -- Egg freezing is a boon for women wishing to preserve fertility by delaying pregnancy due to personal, professional, or medical reasons, most commonly after chemotherapy. The process involves hormone injections to stimulate egg production, followed by a minor, non-invasive procedure to retrieve and freeze the eggs. When the woman is ready to plan pregnancy, the eggs are thawed, fertilised with partner's sperms to make embryos, and then implanted. The procedure is highly successful, although it depends upon age, egg quality, and other health factors. The procedure can have minor issues such as temporary ovarian pain, emotional stress, and high costs. In India, access to egg freezing is expanding through fertility clinics, although awareness and affordability remain a concern, particularly in rural areas. Ultimately, deciding to freeze eggs is a personal choice and should be made in consultation with a fertility specialist after carefully considering individual needs and possibilities.
