Education not a priority under AAP govt, says Pargat Singh
Jalandhar, Oct. 16 -- Jalandhar cantonment MLA Pargat Singh slammed the state after the Punjab and Haryana high court's censure over the poor condition of government schools in the state, calling it "a national embarrassment and the clearest proof of government failure".
The high court, while hearing a matter related to school infrastructure, said senior education officials appeared 'oblivious' to the ground reality. Justice NS Shekhawat directed the state to submit data on teacher availability, classrooms, and other essential facilities in primary and middle schools. Singh said the court's observation that education is not a priority for the state reflects a complete collapse in governance. "The Aam Aadmi Party government must understand that Punjab's future cannot be built through advertisements. It requires teachers, classrooms, and accountability. Many government schools have just one teacher, no headmaster, lack toilets and no clean drinking water," Singh said.htc...
