However, the tricity has been unable to build on its educational foundation to create adequate job opportunities. As a result, it loses young talent to other states and countries.
Technological advancements and automation are reshaping industries and jobs are evolving faster than ever. To make Chandigarh future-ready, its talent capital should be aligned with industry requirements.
The administration's education department could bring the industry to collaborate with educational institutions and create a curriculum that offers skill-based courses along with the traditional syllabus. Job-oriented education could include vocational training and internships in the related industry. There will always be a demand for adaptable, skilled professionals.
The administration should focus on attracting industries, ranging from information technology to service-based ones to green technologies and healthcare, to create a dynamic job market. It should encourage young entrepreneurs and startups.
Higher educational institutions should build a robust placement platform and also encourage research, while ensuring it is integrated with skill-based learning.
