Education key to breaking poverty cycle, says Mann
Jalandhar, April 15 -- Chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said that education is the key to pulling people out of this vicious circle of poverty and raising their standard of living.
"No freebies or concession cards can eliminate poverty or other social maladies in the state, but education is the key. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is reversing this legacy of neglect by prioritising education and women's financial empowerment to realise Dr BR Ambedkar's vision of dignity and equal opportunity," Mann said during the state-level function to launch the registration process for the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana at Adampur.
Mann alleged that for decades, during the Congress and the Akali Dal rule, the poor underprivileged communities in the state were deliberately denied benefits and kept uneducated.
"The systematic denial of education to the poor was a deliberate political choice that crushed generations of Dalit youth while scholarship funds meant for their upliftment were siphoned off," Mann alleged....
