Dehradun, June 15 -- Since childhood, they have shared not just a birthday but also their passions. From choosing the same commerce stream at Army Public School in Pune to graduating from Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce in Pune, and excelling in archery with international and international level medals, 23-year-old Divya and Digvijay Dhayal have always followed parallel paths. So when Divya Dhayal, an international archery player, was commissioned in the Indian Army in September 2023 after passing out from Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai, her twin brother Digvijay, who was working in the corporate sector at that time, found it difficult to ignore the call to serve. Two years later, on June 14, 2025, Digvijay too donned the Army uniform, passing out from the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. "I had always hoped we would join the Army together," said Divya. "We are twins. We chose the same stream, went to the same college, and now we share the same profession. I am extremely proud and happy that he's achieved what he truly wanted." Digvijay said, "But now Divya is my senior. I will always proudly salute her. Since she joined the Army first, she guided me throughout this journey." He added, "It's a heartfelt moment. Hopefully, we will get to serve at the same station someday." The twins are taking forward the legacy of their father, colonel VS Dhayal, of the Indian Army. A native Haryana, colonel Dhayal said, "I have always told my children that no other profession offers the respect and satisfaction that the Army does. My elder brother Anil and I were the first in our family to join the Army in 1993. Sadly, I lost him in 1998 while we were serving in Kashmir." "They have chosen this path on their own. Divya was always clear she wanted to serve in the Army. And now that Digvijay has also joined, I could not be happier," he added. "I would want my children to be in the first line of defence if anything like Operation Sindoor happens again," he said, his voice filled with both pride and determination....
