Panchkula, Jan. 9 -- Students of the Interact Club 'Prayaas -Ek Koshish' at Blue Bird High School, spearheaded a unique eco-friendly initiative this week, combining environmental conservation with women empowerment. The project, titled "Paper for Planet and People," aimed to deliver a strong message against single-use plastics while supporting local women green grocers. As part of the drive, students meticulously crafted sturdy paper bags from old, discarded newspapers collected within the school community. These hand-made bags were then distributed to women vendors at local green grocers and vegetable market across the city. The initiative served a dual purpose by providing a practical alternative to plastic bags, the students directly promoted the message of "Say No to Plastic." They engaged in conversations with both vendors and customers, explaining the harmful impact of plastic on the environment and encouraging the adoption of sustainable habits.The project strategically targeted women in the vending community. By equipping them with these eco-friendly paper bags at no cost, the initiative aimed to support their small businesses.
