Panaji, Jan. 12 -- Former chief of naval staff Admiral Arun Prakash, now retired in Goa, has asked for a revision of the special intensive revision (SIR) forms after the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice requiring him to submit more documents after marking him as an unmapped voter in the state. "May I point out to @ECIVEEP that (a) if the SIR forms are not evoking reqd info they should be revised; (b) the BLO visited us 3 times & could have asked for additional info; (c) we are an 82/78 yr old couple & have been asked to appear on 2 different dates 18 km away!! (sic)" he said. The 82-year-old war veteran and Vir Chakra awardee, who retired about 20 years ago, is the second high-profile retired Indian Navy officer to receive such a notice. Former Navy captain and Congress South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes faced a similar notice after the ECI flagged him as unmapped. The ECI has asked Admiral Prakash and his 78-year-old wife to appear on separate dates at a location more than 18 km from their home. He noted that the notices reflect a broader pattern affecting retired armed forces members. Multiple postings and frequent home shifts during their careers cause the ECI to flag them in the ongoing SIR exercise. htc...
