Dumper crash triggers six-hour traffic snarl
Gururgam, May 5 -- A dumper carrying stone gravel crashed into the central verge of the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway at Naharpur Morh, near Rajiv Chowk, on Sunday morning around 5am. The impact caused the dumper to jump to the opposite side of the carriageway, spilling gravel on the road.
No one was injured. The highway maintenance team cleared the debris and removed the dumper by 1 pm, causing a kilometre-long traffic jam between Naharpur and Rajiv Chowk. Vehicular movement was halted for 15 minutes to shift the damaged vehicle, leading to some commuter frustration. "I have been waiting for around 20 minutes as traffic has been halted. A relative of mine needs to be taken to hospital," a commuter said.
Traffic officials noted that this was the second time in a month that a heavily loaded dumper crashed into the central verge. "Speeding must be avoided, especially when negotiating the Naharpur turn," said a traffic official. Traffic returned to normal around 1.15pm. htc...
