India, Nov. 30 -- Fortis Hospital Ludhiana's Dr Nitin Shanker Behl, director, Institute of Gastro & Liver Diseases, has been honoured with the National Award for Excellence in Gastroenterology & Advanced Endoscopy at the Pioneer of Medical Sciences India 2025 Conclave held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The award was presented by Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union minister of health and family welfare, recognising Dr Behl's significant contribution to advanced endoscopy and digestive healthcare. With over 15 years of experience and more than 2 lakh endoscopic procedures, Dr Behl is among North India's leading therapeutic endoscopists. A gold medallist in MD and DM, he completed his advanced fellowship in Japan and is known for introducing several first-in-region endoscopic innovations, including STRETTA, ESD, and advanced antireflux therapies. Dr Behl also leads community outreach programmes and heads the Centre of Excellence for Gastro & Liver Diseases at Fortis Ludhiana.
