Don't politicise CISF deployment, Bittu tells CM
Chandigarh, May 23 -- Union minister of state for railways and food processing industries Ravneet Singh Bittu on Thursday slammed chief minister Bhagwant Mann over the deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Nangal dam, accusing him of "unnecessarily politicising" the issue.
In a statement, Bittu said the deployment was a routine measure aimed at securing critical national infrastructure and termed Mann's objections as "irresponsible" and "politically motivated".
Bittu urged Mann to act in accordance with the dignity of his constitutional office.
Leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of systematically compromising the state's rights and federal autonomy under the guise of populist politics and orchestrated media campaigns.
Reacting to the deployment of 296 CISF personnel at Nangal dam. He said: "The move not only undermines the state's authority but also imposes a financial burden of Rs.8.58 crore annually, which either BBMB or the Punjab government must bear - a cost that did not exist when Punjab Police handled the security."
