India, Feb. 12 -- T he drama around Don 3 appears to be unfolding off screen. Actor Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment have reportedly been at loggerheads since Ranveer exited the third instalment of the franchise in December 2025. Ranveer's entry into the Don universe was announced in 2023 with a teaser unveiling him as the new Don. Actor Kriti Sanon was later roped in for a key role. According to HT City sources, pre-production had begun, with Farhan scouting locations between late August and early September 2025. However, the film never went on floors. In December, shortly after the release of Dhurandhar, Ranveer walked out of the project. Reports suggest he chose to prioritise his next film, Pralay. Subsequently, Excel Entertainment is said to have sought Rs.40 crore in compensation, citing losses incurred during pre-production. Variety also claimed that several departments associated with the project were released amid uncertainty. According to Bollywood Hungama, the Producers Guild of India has reportedly mediated two meetings between the parties.
