New Delhi, Dec. 28 -- Congress MP Digvijaya Singh on Saturday demanded decentralisation in his party and reminded the leadership that one of the key components of the Udaipur resolution - to set up an election management committee - has not been formed yet, people familiar with the matter said. Addressing the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister is said to have given the example of MGNREGA to highlight the importance of decentralisation, stressing that while MGNREGA had decentralised power, the new VB-G Ram G law has done the opposite. Just like the MGNREGA, the Congress should also decentralise power, the people quoted Singh as saying. During the meeting, the senior leader also flagged the impending implementation of one of the 2022 Udaipur conclave proposals, which was to set up a dedicated election management committee to handle poll preparations. But more than three years later, the panel is yet to be formed. The Congress had organised the conclave to give a new direction to the party and carry out an organisational revamp. He also reminded Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi that the task of removing "sleeper cells" of the BJP-RSS from within the Congress organisation remained incomplete. Singh's reminder to remove "sleeper cells" of the BJP-RSS from the Congress organisation, according to two functionaries, had been an old plan first mooted by Gandhi. Hours ahead of the CWC, Singh stirred a row by lauding the organisational power of RSS-BJP as he shared PM Narendra Modi's old picture where he is sitting on the ground with LK Advani sitting on a chair. "I found this picture on Quora. It's very impressive. How a grassroots RSS volunteer and a Jan Sangh worker @BJP4India became the Chief Minister of a state and the Prime Minister of the country by sitting on the floor at the feet of leaders. This is the power of organization," Singh said in a post on X. The BJP was quick to latch on to Singh's remarks to hit out at the Congress. "Digvijaya Singh openly dissents against Rahul Gandhi... He makes it clear that under Rahul Gandhi the Congress organisation has collapsed. Congress vs Congress on display," BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said on X. At the CWC, however, Singh clarified that "there is no question of praising the RSS". "I am against the RSS and Modi ji. You have misunderstood. I have praised 'sangathan'. I was, am, and will remain a staunch opponent of the RSS and Modi. Is it a bad thing to strengthen and praise the organisation?," he said.htc...
