Dhaba worker dies after being hit by reversing tipper
Chandigarh, Dec. 28 -- A 53-year-old dhaba worker was killed after a reversing tipper ran over him on Jhuggian Road in Zirakpur, police said on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Ummed Singh, worked at a roadside dhaba in the area. According to the police, the accident occurred when the tipper was being reversed and struck Singh, who was standing near the vehicle at the time. He died on the spot.
Following the incident, the police registered a case under Sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106 (death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the tipper driver.
A 23-year-old MSc student sustained critical injuries after a Fortuner car hit the scooty she was travelling on near the Panchkula highway, Zirakpur police said on Saturday.
The victim, Rini, a resident of Bhiwani, was on her way to Panchkula to appear for a competitive examination.
Police said a case under Sections 281 and 125(b) (endangering life) of the BNS has been registered against the Fortuner driver, identified as Vatsal.htc...
