Delhi man arrested for extortion bid
New Delhi, June 23 -- Days after a group of men attacked and demanded Rs.50 lakh from a grocery shop owner in Jind, before looting his shop, the Delhi Police's special cell arrested one of the accused.
The accused, Md Naseeb, had been absconding since June 13. Police on Sunday said Naseeb was caught with a firearm, a Beretta pistol with live cartridges, and a scooter used in the crime.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP), special cell, Amit Kaushik said the team received inputs that Naseeb was in Delhi and his associates were still in Haryana. On Saturday night, he was identified with the help of CCTV cameras and caught near Khanda Chowk, Chander Vihar, near Vikas Puri.
Police said Naseeb and his aides shot at the grocery store victim and robbed him of Rs.2.5 lakh.
"The accused, Naseeb, is a resident of Sultanpuri, Delhi," said the DCP, adding that three of the accused were arrested by Haryana Police....
