DC Montessori School students pledge to promote afforestation
Chandigarh, July 8 -- The Van Mahotsava celebration was held in DC Montessori Senior Secondary Smart School, with great zeal to spread awareness about the importance of trees and to promote afforestation.
The programme was an effort by the school's Eco Club. The event began with a special morning assembly highlighting the significance of Van Mahotsava.
Students presented speeches, poems, skit and slogans emphasising the need to protect our environment, which were appreciated by everyone.
The highlight of the day was a tree plantation drive in the school premises.
Students and teachers actively participated in planting saplings. The principal Vishali Kaushal inaugurated the drive by planting the first sapling and encouraged students to take a pledge to protect the trees they plant.
Various competitions like poster making, slogan writing, and essay writing on the theme 'Save Trees, Save Earth' were also organised for the students.
The winners in these competitions were awarded certificates and eco-friendly prizes.
The event concluded with a motivational speech by the school principal Vishali Kaushal who urged the importance of sustainable living and how small efforts can lead to a big change.
The Van Mahotsava celebration was a meaningful and inspiring experience for all who participated in the event. The students of the school learnt the importance of planting trees in preserving our environment, their ecological as well as other benefits to the humankind....
