Chandigarh, June 8 -- With the return of dry and sunny weather, the city's maximum temperature is on an upward trajectory again and is likely to cross 40degC for the first time this month on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The maximum temperature rose from 38degC on Friday to 39.9degC on Saturday, 1.1 degree above normal, and almost hitting the 40degC mark. Even the minimum temperature is on the rise, going up from 25.2degC on Saturday to 27.1degC on Sunday, also 0.7 degree above normal, making even nights uncomfortable. As per IMD officials, Western Disturbances (WD), which bring in rain and keep the weather cool, were not on the horizon in the coming days. In fact, there are chances of heatwave conditions in parts of Haryana and Punjab next week. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature is likely to hover between 39degC and 41degC, and the minimum temperature will remain between 26degC and 28degC....
