CPI conference from Sept 21
Chandigarh, Sept. 12 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Thursday said it would hold its national conference from September 21 to 25 in Mohali during which various issues, including unemployment, agrarian distress and labour rights, would be discussed. Addressing the media here, chairman of the reception committee of the CPI's 25th Congress, Swarajbir Singh, said over 800 delegates from across the country would take part in the meeting.
He said leaders from communist parties, including CPM, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), Forward Bloc and CPI (ML-Liberation), will attend the inaugural session.
CPI national secretary Amarjit Kaur said, "Politics of hatred is taking place. Peoples' issues are not being resolved. The Modi government has failed on all fronts. " International issues, such as repression of people in Cuba and Palestine, would also be discussed," she said. She said the new national executive would be elected on the last day.
Replying to a question, CPI leaders termed the Rs.1,600 crore announced by the central government for the flood-hit state as a "meagre" sum. htc...
