Jalandhar, June 14 -- Drivers should watch out before pressing the accelerator in Jalandhar as the traffic police have started using speed radars to keep a check on speeding.
The traffic wing of Jalandhar police received a new speed radar five days ago after the state government launched a crackdown on overspeeding vehicles following increase in road mishaps.
As per the information, around 50 persons were challaned by the traffic police in the past five days for violating traffic rules in the city. However, due to lack of speed limit signboards near Rama Mandi, Maqsudan chowk and Pathankot Chowk, which are the main connecting routes to the city, commuters were seen arguing with police officials over challans.
