Cops foil contract killing plot, juvenile detained with pistol
Chandigarh, Oct. 24 -- Police have foiled a contract killing plot linked to a gang rivalry in the DMC area, arresting a 17-year-old juvenile and recovering a country-made pistol with two live cartridges. The development comes amid a series of violent incidents between two rival groups that had already resulted in multiple FIRs at Maloya police station.
On October 22, police on patrol near Sector 38 (West) Park apprehended the juvenile, who was carrying the weapon without a valid license. His associates-identified as Pritam alias Noni, Sahil alias Breed, and Suraj alias Kancha-managed to escape.
During questioning, the juvenile revealed that he and his associates had been hired by a woman, Bano, her sons Deepak and Vishal, and her husband Bablu to target Bunty and his nephew Rohan. The attack was allegedly planned in retaliation for an earlier police case filed against the family.
A fresh FIR has been registered under Sections 111 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act at Maloya police station.
Earlier, two counter cases had been registered between the rival gangs. In one incident, Deepak was attacked by Rohan, Nikhil, Bunty, and Sunny. In a counter-complaint, Bunty alleged his brother Sunny had been assaulted by Vishal and his associates, leaving him injured.
