Cops detain over 50 BKU activists ahead of CM's visit in Bathinda
Bathinda, May 30 -- Over 50 activists of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur) were detained on Thursday to prevent a potential protest during chief minister Bhagwant Mann's official visit to the city.
The union members had initially gathered at the district administrative complex to protest the recent detention of their senior leader, Kaka Singh Kotra, and others by local police.
When authorities blocked their protest near the secretariat, the activists attempted to march towards the city, prompting police action.
The union had earlier staged a protest in Ghaso Khana village on Wednesday against the laying of a sewage network alleging that the work was being carried out without proper procedures. Nearly 50 activists were detained during that protest as well....
