Chandigarh, Dec. 10 -- Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini duringthe High-Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) meeting, on Tuesday, approved procurement of materials and services worth approximately Rs.3,300 crore. An official spokesperson said negotiations with bidders led to savings of about Rs.127 crore. The HPPC approved procurement of 41 BS-VI standard trucks for the police department, purchase of about 27,000 16 kVA distribution transformers and the repair of damaged transformers with aluminium windings. The committee also approved a proposal related to energy production, authorising the supply of 3.55 lakh metric tons of agro-residue-based torrefied biomass pellets to Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited's thermal power plants for a period of one year. More than 50% of the raw material will comprise paddy crop residue. In addition, the committee cleared an annual rate contract for the department of new and renewable energy to supply and install 20,000 solar street lights across the state....
