College student hurt in attempted snatching in Daria village
Chandigarh, Dec. 8 -- A 21-year-old youth studying at Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran, was injured after two men allegedly assaulted him during an attempted snatching in Daria village on Friday morning.
According to the complainant, Bhim, a resident of Daria, the incident took place around 10 am when he was heading for a haircut near Street No 9.
He told police that he ran into Arshdeep, alias Teema, who led him near the local mosque where Sukesh was already waiting.
The duo allegedly began beating him and tried to snatch his mobile phone and cash. When Bhim resisted, Arshdeep reportedly hit him on the head with a brick, causing injuries. Both the accused fled immediately after the assault.
Police took the injured youth to GMCH-32.
Doctors declared Bhim fit to give a statement, after which he recorded his written complaint. Following verification, police registered a case under Section 309(6) (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the two accused for attempted snatching and assault with intent to cause serious injuries....
