Mohali, Dec. 13 -- Five days after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker's Mahindra Thar SUV was vandalised and fired upon while it was parked outside his house, police have arrested a Class-12 student in the case. The accused, Mehtab, 19, a resident of Sector 60, Mohali, told police that the incident was a result of a road-rage altercation that had occurred with the complainant, Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Phase-1, a few days ago. As per the complainant, who is a BJP worker and runs a toilet service business, some assailants had arrived in a Scorpio car around 12.50 am on Monday and vandalised his car. Gurdeep said he had discovered the damage only in the morning. On going through the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed outside his house, he saw the group arriving, striking the vehicle with an axe and opening fire before speeding away. During investigation, police discovered the white Scorpio parked near Phase 8, Industrial Area, which ultimately led them to the 19-year-old accused. According to the police, the pistol used in the crime, which is yet to be recovered, was not licensed. ASI Singh said the team is working to find out who bought the pistol....
