CJI inaugurates district court complex, LLSA building in Leh
Srinagar, March 29 -- Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, inaugurated the newly constructed district court complex at Melong Thang, Leh.
Ladakh lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Justice Arun Palli, chief justice of the HC of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh were also present on the occasion.
An official spokesman said that CJI was accorded a ceremonial guard of Honour, followed by a traditional welcome showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh through a cultural troupe performance.
"The programme proceeded with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque marking the inauguration of the District Court Complex, followed by the formal reading of the inscription by court officials," hesaid.
The CJI also inspected the court facilities, including the court of the principal district and sessions judge.
On the occasion, the Chief Justice also inaugurated the newly constructed Ladakh Legal Services Authority (LLSA) building at Melong Thang and participated in a plantation drive within the premises of the complex.
The district court complex has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.54.85 crore, while the LLSA building has been built at a cost of Rs.5.70 crore, the spokesperson said.
