India, May 8 -- K nown for her viral renditions of folk music, singer Rashmeet Kaur, who was in the Capital for a concert, takes the responsibility of being a public figure seriously. "When a person holding a mic has thousands listening to them, they should use the mic carefully," says the 32-year-old Faqeeran singer, who "likes to create meaningful and uplifting songs". She adds, "All these artistes with a massive following are like leaders... What you say, your followers will follow. Why not give them a nice direction? Why put unnecessary and derogatory thoughts in people's brains?" While she feels that the artistes have a responsibility, she acknowledges that the audience also has the duty to choose wisely. "The current generation calls out the vulgar lyrics. They identify lyrics where a woman is being objectified, and people don't stick with those songs for a long time," says Rashmeet, known for songs such as Dilbar Ki Aankhon Ka (Thamma, 2025) and Ishq Nachaawe (Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, 2023)....
