Mohali, Nov. 22 -- Apart from mother's warmth, the authorities of Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park, popularly known as Chhatbir Zoo, are using three heaters to ensure that the three surviving tiger cubs delivered by Diya, the white tigress, stay warm.

The winter management of the three cubs is a challenge for zoo authorities who are working round the clock to ensure that an optimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius is maintained to keep the cubs 'warm'.

In the wild, cubbing generally takes place after winter months, but in captivity, cubbing depends on the time of mating of the animals. It is after a gap of six years that authorities at Chhatbir zoo have been successful in breeding tigers, and hence the extra caution. Diya had delivered...
