Mussoorie, July 1 -- The Char Dham Yatra that was suspended for a day resumed on Monday as the intensity of rainfall reduced across the state, officials familiar with the matter said. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for several districts till June 2. "The restriction on the yatra has been lifted and all concerned district magistrates (DMs) have been instructed to regulate or halt vehicle movement within their respective jurisdictions based on local weather conditions to ensure pilgrim safety," said Vinay Shankar Pandey, Garhwal commissioner. In Uttarkashi district, Gangotri National Highway that was blocked near Netala, Naluna and Laldang due to significant slush and accumulation, was cleared by Monday evening by the BRO, said the officials. Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya said, "On Monday, the district witnessed moderate spell of rain and in total nine village roads and three district roads were closed in the morning on Gangotri Highway. The traffic was restored later and the pilgrims' vehicles were sent for Gangotri Dham from Uttarkashi. However, the Yamunotri highway is currently closed at two locations, specifically between Silai Band and Ojri." Meanwhile, Rudraprayag district information officer Veereshwar Tomar said that the Kedarnath yatra is going on smoothly.
