Centre removes Dhonchak as DRT-ii presiding officer
Chandigarh, Dec. 4 -- The Centre on Wednesday informed the Punjab and Haryana high court that MM Dhonchak has been removed from the post of Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT-II) presiding officer, Chandigarh.
Dhonchak, who was facing allegations of misbehaviour with DRT Bar Association members, was under suspension since February 2024 and had challenged a prolonged suspension period before the HC.
It was during these proceedings, the information about his removal was submitted.
A notification dated November 18 was placed before the HC by the additional solicitor general of India, Satya Pal Jain adding that the petitioner has been removed from the service with immediate effect.
He was appointed in February 2022 and a formal inquiry started in 2023 after a series of controversies at DRT and allegations of misbehaviour against him....
