Centre designates 114 immigration posts under new legal provisions
New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- The Union home ministry has notified 114 designated immigration posts across the country for facilitating entry into and exit from India. The move, announced through a Gazette notification on Monday, brings airports, seaports, land borders and rail posts under a common framework defined by the new Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
According to the notification, 37 airports, 34 seaports, 37 land ports and six rail ports have been identified for immigration checks. The list includes major international gateways such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru airports, as well as newer facilities like the Manohar International Airport at Mopa in Goa and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
At the seaports, entry-exit points include Mumbai, Mundra, Cochin, Chennai, Paradeep, Vizhinjam and Tuticorin, besides strategic locations in the Northeast such as Dhubri and Pandu in Assam....
