Chandigarh, Dec. 27 -- The Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEFCC) after a delay of 10 months has constituted Haryana's State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) by appointing former IAS officers, Ankur Gupta and Ram Sarup Varma as chairperson and member respectively. Director, environment is the member secretary of the Authority. According to a December 24 notification issued by the MoEFCC, the central government, in consultation with the State government, has also constituted a State Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) for assisting the SEIAA. Former IFS officer, Mahabir Prasad Sharma has been appointed as the SEAC chairperson along with four members and a member secretary. The Haryana SEIAA, an arm of the Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change, is delegated with the powers to consider and grant environmental clearance for a category of projects, including mining, infrastructure, industrial and construction....
