Dehradun, April 4 -- In an effort to strengthen monitoring and curb criminal activities at nightlife establishments, Dehradun police have begun integrating CCTV camera systems installed at pubs, bars and hotels with their surveillance network on the directions of senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal. Dobhal said, "The initiative was launched after he spoke with the owners and operators of pubs, bars, hotels and other establishments in the district to discuss measures to improve law and order and ensure effective monitoring of criminal activities." Dobhal said he directed subordinate officers to coordinate with owners and operators of these establishments and obtain access to the CCTV camera systems installed on their premises. "To implement the initiative, a specialised technical team has been constituted by the police. The team has been tasked with coordinating with establishment owners and integrating their CCTV systems with the police monitoring network so that footage can be accessed quickly whenever required", he said. He said many police teams have already established coordination with several major pubs, bars and hotels across the district. "So far, the technical team has successfully secured access to CCTV camera feeds from 14 establishments," he said. He said that once integrated with the surveillance network, these CCTV systems will allow the police to review incidents immediately and take prompt action if any criminal activity or violation of rules is detected. "The integration of CCTV cameras installed at these establishments will strengthen the security infrastructure and enable better monitoring of activities. In case of any incident, the police will be able to quickly access the footage and take necessary action," he said. He added that the initiative is also aimed at preventing illegal activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining public safety in areas where pubs and bars operate The SSP said owners and operators of major pubs, bars and hotels in the district have assured full cooperation with the campaign launched by the senior police officer. Police detained 14 suspects, arrested ten people and questioned more than 900 people during a late-night crackdown carried out across Dehradun district under the ongoing "Operation Prahar", officials said on Friday.
