Cafe owner arrested for violating hookah ban
Chandigarh, Jan. 3 -- Chandigarh police arrested a cafe owner for allegedly flouting the district magistrate's orders by hosting a 'hookah party' at his establishment in Maloya Colony.
The accused, identified as Deepak Kumar, was arrested on December 31, at Boss Club Cafe. During the raid, police recovered five hookahs from his possession.
According to the police, Kumar was operating the cafe and permitting customers to smoke hookah on the premises despite a city-wide ban imposed by the district magistrate of UT Chandigarh. By doing so, he violated prohibitory orders currently inforce.
A case has been registered under Section 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Maloya police station.
The accused was arrested during the investigation and later released on bail.
Police officials said that the investigation is ongoing and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.htc...
