Burglars drill hole in bank's wall, decamp with Rs.28 lakh
Karnal, Jan. 13 -- Burglars broke into a bank in Hisar and left with nearly Rs.28 lakh after digging through the wall of the branch, police said on Monday. The incident came to light in the morning when the staff of the Sarv Haryana Gramin Bank in Nangthala village of Agroha town of the district, reached office after the weekend closure.
Police said that the masked thieves first created a hole by breaking the wall of the rear side of the building to reach the strongroom and forced open the safe by using cutting tools. The burglars also broke the CCTV system, but the officials managed to recover some footage of the crime.
Branch manager Ankit Kundu informed the police that the cash at the safe exceeded Rs.28 lakh.
