Breaking stigma: Drive on menstrual hygiene
Panchkula, April 21 -- Bhavan Vidyalaya, organised an awareness drive on menstrual hygiene, led by its dedicated NSS volunteers, for the underprivileged students of the evening school. The initiative aimed at spreading awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding menstrual health.
During the session, the volunteers sensitively addressed important aspects of menstrual hygiene, including the importance of maintaining cleanliness, safe practices during menstruation and awareness about health conditions such as PCOD. They also actively dispelled common myths and misconceptions associated with menstruation, encouraging open dialogue and promoting a scientific understanding of the subject.
To further support the cause, the volunteers distributed sanitary pads among the students and guided them on their proper usage and disposal. The interactive session created a comfortable environment where students could ask questions and clarify their doubts without hesitation.
Appreciating the commendable efforts of the NSS volunteers, the principal, Gulshan Kaur, emphasised that access to proper menstrual hygiene is a fundamental right. She highlighted that under Article 21 of the Constitution of India, which guarantees the Right to life and personal dignity, every individual has the right to access good health and hygiene facilities.
