Brahmpura rallies SAD workers days after being replaced
Amritsar, April 26 -- Days after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal replaced him as halqa in-charge of Khadoor Sahib assembly segment, former MLA and party's vice-president Ravinder Singh Brahmpura organised a gathering of party workers in Tarn Taran to mobilise them against the move.
On April 18, Badal had announced Ramandeep Kaur, wife of Avtar Singh Billa, who is the sarpanch of Sheron village in Tarn Taran district and recently joined the SAD, as halqa in-charge, replacing Brahmpura who is the son of late Akali stalwart Ranjit Singh Brahmpura.
While addressing supporters, Brahmpura said, "The Akali Dal has historically been a party of martyrs, dedicated to Punjab's development and the fierce protection of Panthic traditions, with its hardworking workers serving as its true backbone."
But now "tainted elements", facing serious drug allegations, were being appointed as halqa in-charge, which was not acceptable, he alleged. "Drugs have already left countless mothers bereft of their children and we will not allow the remaining youth of our area to be ruined," he claimed.HTC...
