India, May 10 -- J&K (May 8). Eight Pakistani missiles fired at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura and Arnia in the Jammu division were intercepted by air defence units, officials said. Over 45-50 drones were successfully neutralised during a large-scale operation conducted by air defence units in Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot areas, they added. Deputy commissioner Aashika Jain said the area had been cordoned off and IAF authorities had been informed about the recovery of the missile. A suspected missile recovered from a field in Makhan Windi village was detonated in a controlled environment on Friday afternoon amid tight security by a team of experts called by the army. Of these, the one found at Burj Mehma was undetonated, a police officer said. "The district police authorities were alerted immediately. After scanning the area, the police officials informed us that one of the missiles was lying undetonated in a field and asked villagers to maintain a safe distance," a local resident said. "Bomb disposal squads are verifying the fragments (of the missiles) to confirm their origin," Bathinda deputy commissioner Showkat Ahmad Parray said. On Friday morning, locals found a "bomb-like" object near a nursery in Jogiyon Ki Basti area of Kishanghat. "Upon receiving information, we reached the spot where we found a bomb-like object following which security personnel and experts were called. The matter is under investigation," Kotwal police station in-charge Premdan said. Similarly, another suspected bomb was found in Dhani area of Ramgarh village. Ramgarh police station house officer Omprakash said the local administration has informed the army's bomb disposal unit about the bomb, which was found by the villagers in the morning. Earlier on Thursday, wreckage of a "drone-like" object was found at a remote place near Khavda village, about 90km from the border.
