Book review competition held at Jiya Lal Mittal DAV Public School
Gurdaspur, Aug. 4 -- An inter-school book review competition was organised by Beas Sahodaya School Complex at Jiya Lal Mittal DAV Public School. A total of 47 students from around 11 schools under Beas Sahodaya participated in the event. The main objective of the competition was to further enhance students' interest in reading books.
The event was attended by judges Neetu (professor, RR Bawa DAV College, Batala) and Hardeep Singh (department of Social Studies, Punjab Education Department). All the dignitaries were specially welcomed by the host school.
The competition was divided into five groups based on class levels. In the Class 8 group, the first position was secured by Monali Kumari (Baba Banda Singh Bahadur School, Dhariwal), second by Kamaljot Kaur (Guru Nanak International School, (Gazi Kot )and third by Navreet (Doaba Public School, Dhariwal).
In the Class 9 group, Mansirat Kaur (Doaba Public School, Dhariwal) won first place. In the Class 10 group, Kshitija Sharma (Jiya Lal Mittal DAV Public School, Gurdaspur) secured the first position. In the Class 11 group, the first prize went to Ekamjot Kaur (Doon International School, Gurdaspur). In the Class 12 group, Nazleen Kaur (Doaba Public School, Dhariwal) stood first.
The school principal Rajeev Bharti, extended his congratulations to all participants and emphasised the importance of such competitions in the holistic development of students. He addressed the audience by saying, "Readers are Leaders," and encouraged students to participate enthusiastically in every opportunity they get. He reminded everyone that winning and losing are both part of life, and each loss brings us closer to future success....
