Chandigarh, Jan. 17 -- Punjab BJP on Friday held a dharna near the official residence of chief minister Bhagwant Mann over "deteriorating" law and order in the state. The party leaders who had initially announced to gherao CM's official residence were stopped a few meters away. Addressing the gathering, state party chief Sunil Jakhar said, "The BJP leadership had come to get the house number 50, allotted under the CM's quota, vacated from Arvind Kejriwal, who is acting as the de facto ruler of Punjab. People want the CM to be a Punjabi. They will not tolerate someone from outside coming and ruling Punjab." Party's working president Ashwani Sharma alleged that an atmosphere of lawlessness prevailed in the state and that the Mann government had "failed" to maintain law and order. "Party leaders had gone to meet the CM to seek answers but he did not consider it necessary to come out and engage in a dialogue," he said. "Fear of gangsters is increasing in the state, with some criminal incidents occurring almost every day. Such conditions remind people of the era of terrorism," he added....
