BJP delegation calls on Shah, seeks special package for disaster-hit HP
Shimla, July 25 -- Union home minister Amit Shah has assured that there will be no shortage of funds for relief work in disaster-hit areas, revealed a delegation of Himachal Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders that met him in New Delhi on Thursday.
The delegation, led by Union health and family welfare, fertilisers and chemicals minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, included leader of Opposition and former chief minister Jairam Thakur, state BJP president Rajiv Bindal, MP and former Union minister Anurag Thakur, MP and former state president Suresh Kashyap, Rajiv Bhardwaj, Kangana Ranaut, Rajya Sabha MP Indu Goswami and others, had met him in New Delhi.
In a statement, Nadda said Shah had immediately rushed Air force helicopters and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) teams for rescue and relief operations in the state, where torrential rains wreaked havoc recently.
In a separate statement, Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur said, "The home minister said that Himachal Pradesh is very dear to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and that the Union government has increased the State Disaster Relief Fund for the state several times in view of the terrible situation of increasing calamities there."
Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut in a post on X wrote: "Expressing deep condolences, the minister (Shah) assured that all affected families will beprovided with every possible assistance and promptrehabilitation."...
